How it works

Measure & position

We confirm the hood will sit at the correct height above the range and that the exhaust outlet aligns with the existing duct opening.

Mount & connect duct

We attach the mounting hardware to studs or upper cabinet floors, slide the hood into position, and connect the exhaust collar to the duct with a tight, taped seal.

Wire & test

We connect the power source, install the grease filters and light bulbs if not pre-installed, and run the fan through all speeds to confirm strong airflow.

Range Hood Installation — FAQ

What if there is no existing duct for the range hood?

If there is no duct, the hood can be configured for recirculating mode using a charcoal filter. This does not remove moisture but does filter grease and some odors. We can set the hood to either mode.

Can you install a decorative chimney-style hood over an island?

Yes. Island range hoods require ceiling-mounted ductwork and are a more complex install. We assess the duct run and ceiling height before beginning.

How high above the range should the hood be mounted?

Most manufacturers recommend 24 to 30 inches above an electric range and 27 to 36 inches above a gas range. We confirm the spec for your specific model before drilling.
