How it works
Plan the layout
We snap a level line, calculate panel spacing to avoid awkward slivers at corners, and confirm the style with you.
Install panels and rail
We cut panels to height, nail them into studs or drywall anchors, and cap the assembly with chair rail molding.
Finish and prep for paint
We set nails, fill holes, and caulk every joint so the wall reads as a single seamless surface when painted.
We can help
Problems we fix
- Panels that weren't set level, making the chair rail look tilted
- Gaps at inside corners that open up after the first winter
- Inconsistent panel spacing that looks visually off
- Nailing into drywall only so panels bow or separate over time

Wainscoting Installation — FAQ
What height should wainscoting be?
A common rule is one-third of the wall height — around 32 to 36 inches in a typical room. We'll recommend the proportion that looks best based on your ceiling height.
What styles can you install?
We work with raised panel, flat panel, beadboard, and board-and-batten. We'll discuss which look fits your room and your budget.
Does wainscoting need to go into studs?
Ideally yes for full panels. For beadboard or thin MDF, we can also use construction adhesive plus a few strategically placed fasteners. We won't let it feel hollow or flimsy.
Can you install wainscoting around outlets and switches?
Yes. We notch the panels to fit, and if the existing outlet boxes need to be brought forward to reach the new wall surface, we'll handle that as part of the install.
