ProfessionalBookshelf Anchoring
A tall bookcase that isn't anchored to the wall is a tip-over hazard — especially in a home with kids. We secure bookcases, wardrobes, and tall shelving units to wall studs so they can't fall forward, without damaging the furniture or leaving ugly visible hardware.
Also known as: bookshelf anchoring, furniture anchoring, tip-over prevention, anti-tip furniture strap, secure bookcase to wall, wall anchor bookcase, furniture strapping, bookcase anchoring

How it works
Level the unit
Before anchoring anything, we confirm the bookcase is plumb and level — a crooked unit that's strapped to the wall stays crooked.
Find studs and anchor
We locate the stud behind the top of the unit and drive long screws through the bracket into solid wood, not just drywall.
Test the connection
We apply firm forward force to the top of the unit to verify there's no give before we consider the job done.
We can help
Problems we fix
- Furniture tip-over from a child climbing or pulling on a shelf
- Anchors only into drywall that pull out under forward force
- Wardrobe units that weren't anchored and slowly leaned away from the wall
- Visible, ugly straps that the homeowner wants to hide

Bookshelf Anchoring — FAQ
Can you anchor IKEA and flat-pack furniture?
Yes, that's most of what we anchor. We work with the wall strip hardware included in many IKEA units or use aftermarket furniture straps when the included hardware isn't adequate.
How much force does this need to withstand?
Enough to stop a tip-over event — typically around 200 lb of forward force at the top. We anchor into studs to comfortably exceed that.
Will the bracket damage my furniture?
We mount the bracket at the back of the top where it won't be seen, and use a padded or concealed strap when the furniture has a finished back that's visible from the side.
Do you anchor a single unit or multiple pieces in the same visit?
As many as you need in one visit. It's much more efficient to anchor a whole room's worth of furniture at once.
