Do Philips Hue bulbs require the bridge?

The Hue bridge unlocks full feature sets and supports more bulbs on a single network. Newer Hue bulbs can connect via Bluetooth without the bridge, but with limitations. We set up whichever approach you have.

Can smart bulbs work without the internet?

Most require internet for app and voice control, but local control through the hub or bridge still works during brief outages. We explain what functions are available offline for your specific system.
