ProfessionalFascia Board Patching
Fascia board rot usually starts at a gutter joint where water pools and never fully dries out. We don't just slap filler over it — we cut out the rotted section, fit a solid replacement, prime and caulk it, and address the water source so it doesn't come right back.

How it works
Expose and assess
We drop the gutter section, probe the fascia, and determine exactly how far the rot has spread before cutting anything.
Cut out and replace
We remove damaged material past the rot line, fit solid replacement board, prime the edges, and fasten it to the rafter tails.
Reinstall and seal
We rehang the gutter, caulk all joints, and check that water drains away from the fascia correctly.
We can help
Problems we fix
- Gutter end cap leaks that direct water directly onto the fascia end grain
- Fascia that was never primed on the back face so moisture soaked in from behind
- Rot that has moved from fascia into the rafter tails behind it
- Paint maintenance missed on the fascia for several cycles, leaving bare wood exposed to weather

Fascia Board Patching — FAQ
Do you have to remove the gutter to fix the fascia?
For a section repair, yes — we need clear access to cut and fasten. We'll reinstall the gutter section properly when we're done.
What if the rot goes into the rafter tail behind the fascia?
We probe and treat rafter tails with borate preservative and sister new framing alongside the damaged area if the rot has gone deep. Better to address it now than later.
What material do you use for the replacement?
We use primed pine or composite fascia board to match standard profiles. If your fascia is wider or custom, we can source the right stock.
Can I just paint over the rot instead of replacing it?
Paint over rot only delays failure and can trap moisture, accelerating the problem. Cutting it out is always the better long-term answer.
