Simple & stress-free

How it works

1

Prep and base coat

We sand the wall smooth and apply a standard adhesion primer so the heavy magnetic primer has a solid base to grip.

2

Apply magnetic primer coats

We apply at least three coats of magnetic primer, stirring thoroughly between coats, and test magnet strength before deciding if another coat is needed.

3

Topcoat with chosen color

Once the magnetic primer has cured, we apply the decorative topcoat in your chosen color, leaving you with a functional and attractive wall.

We can help

Problems we fix

  • Weak magnetic pull from only one coat of primer — multiple coats are essential for holding power
  • Inconsistent primer application from not stirring enough, causing the magnetic particles to settle
  • Magnets holding poorly because the topcoat applied was too thick, reducing the effective magnetic pull
  • Rough surface texture from magnetic primer requiring sanding between coats to smooth out

Good to know

Magnetic Paint Application — FAQ

How strong is a magnetic paint wall?

Strong enough to hold lightweight papers and small magnets with a good-quality neodymium magnet. It won't hold heavy objects like steel tools. For the best hold, we apply at least three coats of primer.

Can you paint any color over the magnetic primer?

Yes. Once the magnetic primer is dry, it accepts any standard wall paint as a topcoat. You can make a magnetic wall in any color you like.

Is magnetic primer safe inside the home?

Yes. Most magnetic primer products are water-based with standard VOC levels. They're safe for interior use with normal ventilation.
