3

Test and hand over

We test the lock from both sides, confirm smooth operation and hand you the keys.

We can help

Problems we fix

  • Strike plate holes elongated from years of door movement, making the bolt fall short
  • Wrong backset measurement chosen at the hardware store, so the new knob won't fit
  • Deadbolts installed without reinforcing the strike plate, making the door easy to kick in
  • Interior knobs that turn freely without retracting the latch because the spindle is stripped

Doorknob & Lock Replacement — FAQ

Can you re-key the lock so I don't need to replace the whole unit?

Yes. Re-keying changes only the cylinder pins, so the lock works with a new key while keeping the existing hardware. It's much cheaper than full replacement.

Do I need a separate deadbolt and knob, or can I use just one?

Exterior doors should always have both — a knob or lever for the latch and a deadbolt for security. A knob latch alone is easy to bypass.

Can you install a smart lock?

Yes. We install most keypad and app-connected smart locks, set up the strike alignment and walk you through the programming.
