ProfessionalCeiling Water Stain Painting
A yellow or brown ring on the ceiling is distracting and makes a room feel neglected. We seal the stain with a dedicated blocker, then topcoat with fresh ceiling paint so the discoloration disappears and won't bleed back through.

Simple & stress-free
How it works
Assess and block the stain
We verify the leak is fixed, then apply stain-blocking primer over the discolored area to permanently seal the tannins and minerals.
Apply ceiling paint
Once the stain-blocker is dry, we paint over it with ceiling paint, extending past the stain area to avoid a visible halo at the edges.
Blend and finish
We feather the fresh paint into the surrounding ceiling surface as smoothly as possible to minimize sheen differences.
We can help
Problems we fix
- Standard latex primer used over stains, which allows the stain to bleed right back through
- Painting over an active leak that keeps creating new staining
- Visible halo around the painted area because the edges weren't feathered out far enough
- Sheen variation between the touched-up area and the rest of the ceiling

Ceiling Water Stain Painting — FAQ
Will regular ceiling paint cover a water stain?
Not reliably. Water stains contain minerals and organic compounds that bleed through most standard paints. A shellac-based or oil-based stain blocker is needed first.
Do I need to fix the whole ceiling or just the stain?
If the drywall is still solid and just discolored, sealing and painting the stain is enough. If the drywall feels soft or sags, a section replacement is the better option.
Can you match the existing ceiling paint exactly?
Flat white ceiling paint blends better than most other paints. A touch-up with fresh flat white over a primed stain is usually invisible, especially on a matte ceiling.
