How it works
Cut out and inspect
We remove all compromised drywall until we reach solid, dry material, and check that the source of the leak has been fixed before we close anything up.
Patch and texture
We install a solid drywall patch, tape the seams, apply compound in coats, and sand the repair to match the ceiling profile and texture.
Prime and paint
We apply a stain-blocking primer so water discoloration can't bleed through, then finish with ceiling paint.
We can help
Problems we fix
- Patching before the leak source is fixed, causing the damage to return
- Using regular primer over a water stain, which lets the stain bleed through new paint
- Soft or spongy drywall left in place because only the visibly stained section was removed
- Texture mismatch between the new patch and the original ceiling surface

Ceiling Water Damage Repair — FAQ
Do you fix the leak or just the ceiling?
We handle the drywall repair and painting side. If the leak is from plumbing, roofing, or HVAC, that should be repaired by the appropriate trade before we close up the ceiling.
Is there a mold risk from water damage?
There can be if the material stayed wet for more than a day or two. We remove all wet or discolored drywall and recommend having a look at the insulation above as well.
Why use a special primer after a water stain?
Standard primers don't always block the tannins and minerals left by water damage. A shellac-based or oil-based stain blocker seals the stain permanently so it won't show through your fresh paint.
