How it works
Plan and mark the layout
We measure the room, mark the fixture positions for balanced lighting, and identify the wire routing path before any cutting starts.
Cut, run cable, and connect
We cut each opening, fish wire along the ceiling cavity, make connections at each can, and tie everything into the switch or junction point.
Install trims and test
We snap in the LED wafers or trim kits, restore power, and adjust any fixture that isn't perfectly flush or aimed.
We can help
Problems we fix
- Obstructions in the ceiling cavity — joists, HVAC ducts, or existing wiring — that force layout changes
- Insulation-covered attics requiring IC-rated (insulation-contact) housings
- Insufficient wire slack at the switch box to add another circuit connection
- Uneven spacing that creates hot spots or dark corners

Recessed Lighting Installation in Charleston — FAQ
How many recessed lights do I need per room?
A common starting point is one fixture for every 4–6 square feet of ceiling in a general-purpose room, but we adjust based on ceiling height and how bright you want the space.
Can you add recessed lights without attic access?
Yes. Remodel (old-work) LED wafers clip into the drywall from below and don't need housing boxes above the ceiling. We use these for finished spaces where attic access isn't possible.
Will recessed lighting work with my existing dimmer switch?
It depends on the dimmer and the LED driver. We can swap the switch for a dimmer that's compatible with the LEDs we install, so there's no buzzing or flickering.
Local context
Recessed Lighting Installation across Charleston
Charleston's humid subtropical climate, salt air and active storm season are tough on homes — swollen doors, rusting hardware, mildew-prone caulk and storm-loosened trim are all common. Downtown's historic houses add original plaster walls and tight, detailed millwork, while West Ashley and the islands bring newer builds with their own quirks. Our pros are comfortable with both.
